Global Yacht Training

We want to open up the world of yacht racing to everyone. We love sailing and yacht racing and want to share our passion with like minded people. That’s why we set up Global Yacht Racing in 2003. We are proud of being able to introduce people who have never raced before to a new challenge which really can change their lives. We also enjoy giving more seasoned sailors some top rate coaching and helping them to build on their existing skills to become really great racers. And we get to go on some cool races and awesome after race parties all over the world too, which really is the point!

We’ve been involved with the yachting industry for a while, director Andy Middleton is an experienced Yachtmaster Instructor and RYA Ocean Instructor Examiner. Recently Richard Falk also got “the nod” from the RYA  and so is now an examiner too. Richard is an ocean veteran having raced around the world once already so is part of that elite club. Claire Kennard grew up on and around boats. After passing her yachtmaster in 2002 is now a keen racer having competed in the Rolex Sydney Hobart, the Rolex Fastnet and numerous regattas and is officially no longer a boat gypsy!

Since we started we’ve taken part in some amazing races including the Rolex Fastnet Race and the 60th Rolex Sydney to Hobart Race which was one of the most amazing start lines we’ve ever seen.

The Rolex Middle Sea Race is a beautiful race course. Last year’s crew enjoyed being in close  proximity Mt Etna billowing ashes and lava throughout the night and enjoyed stunning scenery as they circumnavigated the Mediterranean islands of Sicily, Stromboli , before returning to Malta.

IIn 2006 we entered two yachts in the Sevenstar Round Britain and Ireland Race which was an epic upwind race giving the crews the challenge of their lives. The Arc race is always popular as an Atlantic crossing is an experience in itself. The regattas we’ve been at include Cowes Week, Antigua Week and Round the Island Race.

It’s not just about awesome yacht racing around the world though; we support the cancer charity Sail 4 Cancer. We think it is a fantastic charity and as a result, over £40,000 was raised in 2006 alone by Global Yacht Racing crews to help people living with cancer. Global Yacht Racing’s charity challenges have opened the door to some of the world’s most infamous offshore challenges for novices and sailing enthusiasts alike, helping people raise funds to get to the starting line and supporting a great charity at the same time.
