CORK WEEK 2010
ACC Bank Cork Week is one of the best regattas in the world. This five day event takes place in the beautiful port of Crosshaven near Cork in southern Ireland, described as picturesque, traditional and historical. Here, the Irish welcome offered to international Cork Week race teams is second to none.
Cork Week offers great racing, superb social events in the evenings amidst stunning surroundings.
The Global Yacht Racing Cork Week campaign
A regatta like Cork week requires a well drilled yacht race crew and great yacht to ensure competitiveness around the race course. As part of the Cork Week team you will train and practice for two days in the beautiful waters surrounding Crosshaven on our well set up and exciting race yacht. The intensive practice programme covers the following:
- Preparation and set up of yacht
- Crew preparation and role allocation
- Introduction to racing rules
- Yacht race strategy weather and tides
- Starting techniques
- Upwind boat handling – effective tacking, hiking for speed and sail trim
- Downwind boat handling – Spinnaker sets, drops, gybes and trim
Accommodation for Cork Week is provided on board
Crew kit
Race crew shirts are provided as well as loan of branded team GILL foul weather gear
Delivery passage to Cork
Take the opportunity to gain extra sea miles and an early chance to get to grips with the race yacht with a cruise to Cork from Cowes on the Isle of Wight. Departing Wednesday 8th for an ETA of Friday 9th July.
The Yacht
EH01 our competitive Farr designed Beneteau 47.7 will be the campaign yacht for the Dartmouth Regatta 2010. She boasts a North Sails wardrobe, race rig, superb handicap and great accommodation below decks.
