The introduction to yacht racing is aimed at sailors who have never raced before or who may have done the odd corporate race day. The course starts with setting up the yacht, going through crew roles, and then you will practice spinnaker sets, drops and gybing, mark rounding and efficient sailing.

Ability afterwards – Effective crew member on an inshore race yacht

Experience required – you should be racing to intro level, or at least have a few races under your belt.
Duration – 4 days, over 2 weekends

Yacht race training over two weekends, incorporating two inshore races in the Spring Series to sharpen your skills. The course builds on the basic skills, with emphasis on trim, tactics, more complex manoeuvres such as spinnaker float drops, ‘kiwis’ and more. Communications and teamwork are integral to great racing, and you will build on these skills over the two weekends.

Ability afterwards – You should be confident to hop on winning race yachts, and have a go at some exciting regattas like Antigua Race Week with Global Yacht Racing!
